Why the Jordan Pass is Worth It

If you are headed to Jordan for more than 3 nights, especially if you plan on visiting Palestine during your trip, you should definitely consider buying the Jordan Pass.

Here is why I think it is worth it:

Jordan Tourist Entry Visa is Included

Getting into Jordan comes at a price and it ain’t cheap. 40 JD (~56 USD) will get you a one-entry tourism visa valid for 30 days. To get the tourist visa included, you must buy online ahead of time. You can buy the Jordan pass here.

Tip: Check if your passport is on the list of visa upon arrival approved countries here.

Visiting Palestine

If you plan on going to Palestine during your trip you can get out of Jordan and back in without having to go through the visa process again if you have the Jordan Pass. This actually saved my parents when they tried to re-enter Jordan through the King Hussein Bridge crossing (also known as Allenby and Al-Karameh Bridge) when they had left Jordan via the Northern Cross point. If it weren’t for the Jordan pass they would’ve been denied entry!

Petra, Jerash, Wadi Rum Entries Are Included

In Jerash

Over 40 of Jordan’s tourist attractions including Petra, Jerash, Wadi Rum, Amman Citadel, Baptism Site, Ajloun Castle, Um Qais, museums, Burnt Palace Madaba, Lowest Place on Earth Museum…etc are included in the price of the ticket. Check out all of the included attractions here.

Just going to Petra for one day would cost 50 JD (70 USD), Jerash entry is 10 JD (14 USD), Wadi Rum 5 JD (7 USD), Amman Citadel 3 JD (4.5 USD) and the Baptism Site 12 JD (17 USD)… That adds up to 80 JD (120 JD if you include the 40 JD visa fee that is also included) if you pay each entry fee without the pass. You can figure out if the pass is worth it based on what you will visit by adding up the entrance fees for Jordan’s tourism sites. However, if you’re going to Petra, it is 100% worth it.

Note: Before heading to Petra, read this and this.
