Dog Friendly Places in Amman

If you are a dog owner, surely you know that it is not the norm (yet) to allow dogs accompany their owner wherever they wish to go in Amman. I mean, not even the Al Hussein Public Parks allows dogs on the premises! However, you can find some restaurants & cafes that are dog-friendly.

Here are some of the places that allow your pup to sit with you at their outdoor seating area:

Restaurants & Cafes

Community Centers & Malls

Dog Parks

Places in and around Amman where you can drop the leash!

Pet Taxis

Boarding Facilities

Is there a place you go where you wish they allowed dogs? Send them a message on Facebook and let them know because…

And finally, if you are thinking of getting your own four-legged friend to bring along with you to the above places, remember to always adopt from a local rescue.

  1. We just found a new super dog-friendly spot: Brisket BBQ (North of the 4th Circle, past Jordan Hospital). It’s all outdoor sidewalk seating; not only do they allow dogs, the owners and employees treated our little beast like a rock star. Yay!

    1. Hi Fathalla! I am glad the article was helpful 🙂 do let me know if you ever find a new place that is dog friendly that can be added to the list 🙂

  2. I went to pet’s park and it’s so small, tile flooring and is a store and has a vet. That is not a good recommendation or at least write what it is so not to raise people’s expectations. Anyway it was a total waste of time trying to get there and seeing it’s the size of my bathroom. Books@cafe is fabulous though I’m so happy I saw this one from you guys! My dog and I now go there 🙂

  3. Hi Chelsea! Thanks so much for making this information available (especially the pet travel info…) – I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. I’ll be moving to Amman with my labrador retriever shortly, and I’m relieved to have access to such straight-forward information 🙂

    1. Hi Laura! Thanks for your comment 🙂 How great you’ll be moving to Amman and with your dog 🙂 Keep me updated if you find other dog friendly places!

    1. UGH! I have taken them off the list and will spread the word that people should bug them to allow dogs again. How sad 😦

    2. I take my puppy to Rumi all the time and have not had any issues… (I’ve been bringing him since Sept 2019, and even the owner of Rumi has met my pup and didnt say anything)

  4. Hi Chelsea – thanks so much for posting this! Amman may be a posting option for us and I’m trying to figure out how dog friendly the city is. You’ve covered a lot here and I really appreciate that. It seems like it’s possible to bring dogs. One thing i’m wondering is about boarding. Are there good boarding facilities for dogs? (I’m hoping that a city that has pet taxi services will have decent boarding!)

    1. Hi! Amman is not an extremely dog-friendly place, but over time I think it will become more so. They have a huge problem with the treatment of strays (the government shoots and poisons them all) and a lot of dogs are stolen from gardens if they are a breed. I love Amman and don’t want what I said to deter you from coming with a dog, but it’s just a little head’s up. There are boarding facilities and I will work on adding a list to the post soon!

      1. Thanks so much! Kenya, where we are now is much the same. Lots of bad vets. Some great ones. Some facilities – does have a great place for boarding. And the government is about the start a sweep and kill of strays. ☹️

But we keep our two street dog rescues happy, healthy and safe. Thanks again!
