One of my favorite restaurants in Amman is Primal in the Abdoun neighborhood. If you don’t know Primal, it is the first paleo restaurant in Jordan and they seek to get their clientele back to “eating healthily and purely”.
Now when it comes to finding vegan-friendly grub, you may not think that a paleo restaurant is the place to go because, well, …
However, though Primal does have a lot of lean meats and fish on the menu, it also takes great care to include the next level of the pyramid – fruit & veggies.
Now let’s be honest, it’s not hard to find fruits & veggies on the menu at a lot of restaurants in Amman, but what makes Primal so different is how creative they are with the ingredients, plus they get bonus points for clearly marking everything vegan on the menu:
Let’s skip to the end of the meal first, which is always my favorite part…dessert! And no, it’s not just a fruit sorbet or a slice of fruit… How does Chocolate Power Pie, Matcha Green Tea Tart, Spiced Caramel Filled Chocolate Cup, or Berry Cashew Cheese Tart sound?
Vegan Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Primal also has a long list of all vegan smoothies and a couple of items on their breakfast list like Chia Pudding and Granola Mix. For lunch or dinner you can choose from the always vegan soup du jour, sweet potato or carrot fries, and salads galore… Kale & Almond Salad, Kale & Fig Salad, Kale & Quinoa Salad, Quinoa Tabouleh… Now if you’re not a salad person, which sounds ironic to be vegan and not like salad (because that’s all we eat right?), they do have a delicious main course dish – Zucchini Zoodles Marinara.
Time to check it out for yourself…
