If you live in Amman, you probably know that you will spend the majority of your time going from point A to point B in a car. As I moved to Amman from Barcelona, I still find it very hard to adapt to the fact that I can’t walk anywhere I want to. However, with a city full of expats from all over the world, I knew there must be people out there like me who come from backgrounds where they’re used to getting around by foot.
After a bit of investigation, I found the following Facebook groups that unite walkers and hikers alike and the best part is, their activities are either free or cheap enough to do if you’re on a tight budget.
Eco Hikers organizes “Clean as we Hike” trips on weekends only (Friday or Saturday). The hikes are initially limited to less than 10 km to ensure a single day trip. Additionally, the hikes also serve in showcasing rural Jordan to the hikers and may even go the additional mile in language exchange.

The Happy Hikers
A lot of their hikes are free or around the 5 JD range, and they usually include lunch as well.
